WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT

In case of an accident, many things depend on you. It’s not easy to think calmly in these kinds of situations, so better get prepared in advance. Read these tips to get the best out of a bad situation.

accident

STOP

This is the first thing to do in case you get involved in a car crash or any other road accident. If the accident involves other people and cars or causes some kind of damage, you need to stay on the scene. Another important thing is to turn off the engine and decrease the possibility of further damage.

KEEP CALM

Easier said than done? Yes, but this is actually the most important thing you can do. Panic and distress won’t help you resolve your situation. Take some deep breaths to clear your head and lower your heart rate before making any further decisions.

CHECK FOR INJURIES

If you can see some serious injuries, feel pain or are unable to move, make sure to get medical help! Even if you or your passengers are not seriously injured, make the call.  The operator will give you further instruction on whether anybody should seek medical attention. Remember, better safe than sorry.

LEAVE THE CAR

If it’s possible, get out of your car and document the scene the best you can. Take photos from different angles; write down as many things as you can remember that led to the accident, talk to witnesses if there are any. The more information you have, the better.

MOVE YOUR CAR

You should clear the road and move your car to make sure the traffic is safe for other cars coming your way. If your car cannot be moved (or you don’t have anywhere to move it), act accordingly. Turn on your hazard lights and use cones and warning triangles to warn other drivers about the accident.

WHO TO CALL?

This one is up to you to decide, but there are several things to take into consideration. If there are serious injuries, the damage is big, one  or more drivers are DUI, you have to call the police. If nobody needs urgent medical care and there is only minor damage, call your insurance company. Also, fill out the Motor Vehicle Accident Report as accurately as you can. You can find the MVAR form online and download it at any time. After you complete it, sent it to the Ministry of Transportation and wait for their response.   accident Finally, to avoid inconvenience on the road, and (hopefully) any type of accidents, drive Approval Team’s reliable and safe cars.
